So we decided to give it a spin since we changed ISP to a unlimited package that was more 'unlimited' than the last one.    It's mainly for TV series/seasons that we keep missing and I don't want to buy (yet).  In penance I may have to do more time on the exercise bike as the arse is gonna get pretty well couch shaped to go with those square eyes.

Watched the first ep of  'The Thick of It'. Fuckity fuck, Peter Capaldi is going to be a very interesting Doctor.

Oh and this morning we managed to re-book King Lear for April so YAY. National Theatre site kept crashing though so I should imagine most tickets for the remainder of the run will be gone pretty soon. I just have to pass on those February ones now.

So according to Channel 4's twitter - their Gods of Scheduling (I suspect they are Asgardian and actually Gods of Mischief) have not yet decided on a slot for Marvel's  Agents of SHIELD's return in 2014.

And they wonder why ratings get hit.  Call me jumpy, but I haven't forgotten what a hatchet job they did back in the day on Angel the Series.

We're on a bloody cliffhanger dammit!

Which TV show did you start watching in 2013?
Breaking Bad, Agents of Shield, Sleepy Hollow, Doctor Who, Orphan Black

Which TV show did you let go of in 2013?
Once Upon a Time & Orphan Black

TV shows which ended anyway which meant their mixed quality last seasons didn't make me drop them:
Can you repeat the question?

Which TV show did you mean to get into but didn't in 2013? Why?
Availability issues with Breaking Bad meant I only got as far as S2 Ep2 but what we've seen so far will probably mean adding it to the rental list rather than scrapping for D/loads. I mean it's gripping and it's like watching a train wreck but you can't help yourself.

Which TV show do you intend to check out in 2014?
Sherlock and Doctor Who.  There may be some others. I try hard to watch broadcast stuff these days rather than d/loads.

Which TV show impressed you least in 2013?
Once Upon  A Time - Admittedly I only saw a couple in S3 and couldn't be arsed to d/load the new eps. There is even a possibility we won't get it on Terrestrial in the UK anyway now that C5 has dropped it from it's schedule.  I appreciated the acting in Orphan Black but I couldn't give a damn about the characters so that one went south very quickly.

Which TV show did you enjoy the most in 2013?
Clearly Agents of SHIELD - for pure entertainment value and some potentially awesome characters. Usually there's one character in a new show that I could easily bear to see 'offed' but not this group. I'm actually loving them all for their funny quirky ways. I get pissed at all the bleating around the show and the 'disappointment' from a vocal section of the Whedon fans. I really don't know what they were expecting with a Marvel/Whedonesque show aimed at family viewing but what we're getting is just fine by me.

- Bold all of the following TV shows of which you've seen 3 or more episodes.
- Italicize a show if you're positive you've seen every episode.
- Asterisk * if you have at least one full season on tape or DVD
- If you want, add up to 3 additional shows (keep the list in alphabetical order).

List here )

I feel like I'm in a  TV show vacuum. I am watching just one show so far and that's a returner Supernatural. I'm not sure if I liked the first episode. I have a bad feeling about Castiel's absence.

I may start on Once Upon a Time S2 also, but not overly fussed. I do have the first episode sitting on the hard drive.

I abandoned Castle and True Blood both mid way through their respective season 4's but these are the two I am most likely to trying and pick up again.

Nothing new. That's very sad. Where did all the appointment TV shows go to?

In other news my poor little Loki is sick. Both he and Lynx went last Friday for the 'snip' . Saturday night Loki threw up everywhere and has stopped eating. Poor little blighter was even retching up what little water he had drunk. The veterinary nurse who gave them their post op check up on Monday, couldn't find anything wrong with him. He was back there last night and they kept him in for a drip and blood tests. I'm waiting to see what they've found this morning. Of course his brother is beside himself because he has never been alone before. :(

All over so soon. I loved it to pieces and I was all sniffy last night, but  now we know they will be back.  \o/  I don't know if I can stand the wait.  Come on Auntie Beeb, 3 eps a season is JUST. NOT. ENOUGH.

Now that's over currently underwhelmed by most things on TV right now that I'm watching.  I may go and check out Community as I hear it's funny.

I will be checking this out though  a brilliant combination of two of my favourites Prof.  Brian Cox and Dara O'Briain  :)  Look to the stars!

So I've been editing every evening over the last two weeks, but it's just home video and photo slide shows.   There was a backlog from August 2009 to process and so much! I'm up to August 2010 and then I need to offload the cam corder onto my machine to finish up, but seeing as PC is a little fragile I may just finish what is on there until we decide whether the PC *pets her baby* needs a bit of an overhaul.

We obviously take too many holidays and whilst we are there, too much video and photos. I don't mind really,  loving to to look back on all these memories, I just wish I'd kept up to date with this.  Even burning the DVD's is problematic as I keep hitting error codes and there are so many files it's a real pain to find where the problem lies. Anyhoo enough of the moan and groan.

TV has been pretty cool right now. I don't feel I'm overloaded with shows to keep up with although I do have a couple of SPN's to watch on my machine, that'll be as no-one else watches the show at home.  My daughter is now a fan of both 'Castle' and 'White Collar' to the extent that she will nag me non stop to get the shows , but it's great to find some we can sit down together and enjoy. I found her watching a Buffy S7 ep on one of the satellite channels the other day - so there I am begging her to not watch it as she'll be spoiled and won't follow the story too well.  We started with Season 1 Boxset last last year with Welcome the Hellmouth & The Harvest (she's also seen OMWF) and although she enjoyed them,  they did scare her a wee bit.  I think now she's ready to pick it up again. Pushing Daisies is another we've been watching together,  she loves this too and it's a good excuse for me to rewatch with the bonus of those last final episodes I've not seen yet.  I abandoned Bones around the same time as Sky One - they shifted it to one of the Living channels ( kind of appropriate) and I couldn't be arsed to track it down.

New grown up TV is 'Treme'  - I think we missed the pilot but both J & I find it interesting.  Only two episodes of the West Wing Seven season marathon remain and we're asking ourselves where the next  intellectual drama like will come from or has the time for shows like this or 'The Wire' now passed?

What are you all watching and is there appointment TV that I'm missing (btw  I hate reality/talent shows)

Can you guess mine??

List fifteen of your favorite characters from different fandoms, and ask people to spot patterns in your choices, if they're so inclined.

TV and Film/Book  characters

here they are!  )

I could have picked more than just these - quite a few whedonverse characters were left off the list because I needed to spread the choices  over the fandoms

Hello world

I'm kinda busy with art and stuff right now-  I have lots to do for the Dollhouse Convention in May which I will post as it is finished.

I'm trying to catch up with my TV shows and fighting the urge to start another vid project already (I have a list *this long* )  I've been reading the furore over the S8 Buffy comics - I'm very much in the 'wait and see camp'  as I'd like to get to the end of the arc before deciding whether I am happy or not with the character assassination development. I'd say I have my two favourite characters from the 'verse in front and centre apparently doing things that don't feel right. Oh well patience, wait and see.

Castle starts in the UK on Alibi channel tonight at 9pm - I'm pleased as I saw the first 5 episodes when it premiered stateside (which were fun) but getting the rest fell by the wayside. I've been very meh about Bones - I fell asleep in the last three episodes and it feels like it is going nowhere, at this rate not even the pretty will save it. Caprica I've enjoyed thus far I think I have about 3 eps left? [livejournal.com profile] bradcpu has convinced me to continue watching Legend of The Seeker and with the introduction of the new character in the S1 Finale the show became far more interesting ;)  The wizard still pees me off but I can say that if ever a crack vid idea came my way I doubt I could resist the urge.

And this just made me and J fall off our chairs the other morning. I mean,  I'm not laughing at the poor old bloke but 'sunglasses in a wheelchair?'  And they thought he was sleeping?    I'm sure this was in a hollywood script somewhere.

Since 17th December we've some sort of snow covering the ground/garden. It's the longest period of cold weather for some considerable time here - and locally we have managed to miss most of the heavy falls.  I should imagine that we've only had in total about 5-6inches in that period, it's just that it has stuck around much longer than usual. We've had the real fire lit in the lounge every night since then too and Christmas just felt more Christmassy due to the snow( rather than miserable rain or overcast skies).     I am so glad we work from home, no school cancellations for Ellie either. The latest snowfall resulted in a trip to the south Common (along the cliff  escarpment and the *only*  hill in Lincoln ) with our neighbour and son, taking our  improv bodyboard as a sleigh.  So much fun - there were all kinds of craft carreering down the hill - one family in an inflatable raft went flying by - all five of them in a huge heap. The proper sleds with runners were the fastest and got airborn - and there was this funny bike on runners which was bizarre in an awesome way.  If anyone wants to see winter type photos they're here under the cut   winter photos ) Snowfall at the house

On the way up

Christmas lights.
Lane in the village

Anyhow I saw the first two episodes of Glee the other day. Loved it to bits - I hope I enjoy the rest of the series as much as the first two.

And finally and thank you to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] raspberry_splat  for the beautiful ecard that arrived in the Christmas holiday. Both Ellie & I loved playing it. *hugs*

It's new season TV very very soon (that came round fast)  and this will be what I'll be 'watching'

Dollhouse - Whilst I really got caught up in the last half of the first season, I've yet to feel the same intense way with this Whedon show as I do with the 3 that came before.  I'm hoping that things will only get better. I've avoided S2 plot spoilers but not some of the huge casting news that has been flying around.   The Season One DVD's came last weekend. J is away in Germany for a few days so I think I'll settle down and do a rewatch, check out the unaired pilot and just start mentally cataloging scenes for the two vid bunnies I have so far.

SPN - I felt strange about the finale. I may dig it out and watch it again before the S5 premiere. I guess I'll tune in out of curiosity and because Castiel is pretty. *is shallow*

Bones - I'm loyal, I like looking at David, but will wait until it airs over here as I think I lost patience with the willtheywontthey factor.

Glee - I've heard things about this, I've no idea what it is about so it will be cool to find out. It sounds happy so that's good. More happy is what we need.

Caprica - I'd like to see what Jane Espenson does with the project plus James is doing a guest turn.

Leverage - Fun Fun Fun show.

Catching up on DVD's and late to the party for :

The Wire
- How awesome is this show?  THIS MUCH  *stretches out arms*  J & I have just seen the S3 finale and love it to bits. Fascinating slow burning stories that just got us hooked in.  Wonderful characters - I think I love a little bit of most of them but have a soft spot for Freeman.

True Blood - We're up to episode 7 I think - We laughed our assess off at a couple of episodes. Nothing like knob gags to get us rolling in the aisles.   (is it supposed to be funny?)  The credits never get old,  too - awesome.

House - I lost track of S5 somewhere in the summer. I want to catch up but not really fussed enough to do rush off and find the missing ones.

Legend of The Seeker
- This looks cool and escapism, with swords and stuff - I'll be starting on season one soon I hope.

Pushing Daisies - I never got to see the last few episodes they held back following the cancellation announcement.

BSG - Watched the 3 hour mini series two days ago. I actually have a vid song so I want to do a whole recap from the beginning. Looking forward to it.

Is there something I should be checking out?  I feel I may have left off something vital.  I may catch up on Castle and Chuck too.

In other news.  The judging for this round at AVA's is tough (/ understatement). There is a whole herd of inspirational, exciting and emotional vids in our short list - at least five of which would normally sweep the top awards in any  previous round.  There will be recs aplenty after the awards are announced, I'm sure.   I think the first week November for awards, I'm a little slow of late as I'm under the weather right now.

On the (non)creative front I'm 'going through the motions' with a vidlet. When did 1:49 get so long?  Still uninspired, but I am going to make myself finish it. A reminder, if one were needed,  that I need to rewatch AtS S5 just for pleasure.
