Awards are posted for Rd 20 of the Art of Vidding Awards. Check them out here. Thanks to my co-conspirator and judge
whiskyinmind for her help as always.
It may not have been a very big round in number of entries but in terms of competition, some categories were brutal. And I don't think we've ever had so many vids in contention for Music/Action or Editing Rounds. It seemed a shame to just to have two judge's choices each but we had to stop somewhere. Check out the winning vids - you won't be disappointed.
Not sure when the next round will happen. There's a definite decline in interest for these vidding competition so we may have a rethink and any thoughts are welcome in the comments.

Date: 2013-01-31 09:08 pm (UTC)I really hope the site sticks around in some form. I've seen so many other great awards sites sort of fade away recently. It's clear that there's less participation these days, but I wonder if that's something that can be addressed by a change in format or structure. I'm afraid I don't have many answers, only lots more questions. But I do plan to bring all of this up at Vividcon. Are you planning to attend VidUKon? I'd love to hear what they had to say on the subject.

Date: 2013-02-01 03:35 pm (UTC)I'm still deciding whether to go to VidUkon. Cardiff is a bit of a drive for me (solo - can't entice John to go this time) but it may be the only convention I attend this year so it's still possible.
I don't really want to close AvA as I'm still very attached to that part of my site. But there's no denying that many people don't submit.
I'd rather not lower the judging standards to make it easier to win an award, and not keen having awards based purely on polls.
One thing to consider may be to accept vids that are just streamed. Perhaps we have to just carry on but with smaller rounds. Any further ideas are very welcome :)

Date: 2013-02-01 08:57 pm (UTC)that little clip at 2.32 with Blackwidow always, ALWAYS makes me far happier than you would expect
Hee, I certainly wanted to come go with her.
I hope I get a chance to come to VidUKon some day. Among other things, it would be absolutely lovely to meet you.
Rest assured you're not the only person who's attached to AvAs, and I don't mean just among the entrants. You may be on to something about accepting streaming vids and smaller rounds. I'm going to bat some ideas around the community (about awards sites in general).
