I know that many people hate this festival day, but I thank my lucky stars that some bloke at work gave me a card 23 years ago, life changing I tell you.

I made some shippy cards - I still feel very rusty in the photoshop department but it'll only improve if I practice!

So Invasion 2 - this weekend. A good time was had although I didn't feel much in the mood to boogie at the parties which was a shame 'cos I heard most of the guests were bustin' out their best moves. Mix of Sci-Fi shows - Dollhouse, Stargate Universe, BSG & Caprica and the Guild.  Eliza made it this time so yay.

So leaving it a bit late but I have just registered for [livejournal.com profile] vidukon this April     YAY!!   Looking forward to meeting fellow vidders on my flist who are listed as attendees.

With a touch of trepidation  I'm not looking forward to the solo 4 hour drive from home. I may convince the family that they really need to visit Cardiff (but not the Convention) with me, we'll have to see.   Just the hotel room to book now.  Not sure if I'll come down on the Friday or Saturday yet.  I think this may now  knock the Dollhouse Convention on the head scheduled for the week before  (yeah I know  - that will be the Convention that Sean Harry of Starfury finally get's Joss Whedon to make a guest appearance) . I wonder if I can do both?

More importantly are these questions that need addressing :  Do I submit a premiere vid?   Can I make something in time that I feel able to send in?   Would I be able to stay in the room whilst it was shown if I did?      Well I can answer one of those straight away.

I think I need to look over my vid bunny list to see if there is anything suitable I can tackle.  Good place to start.

All snaggable with credit.  I'm hoping to have time to start a short seasonal vid/vidlet today and also want to do some Firefly and Dr Horrible Artwork.   If you want any slayerverse seasonal icons and banners then you can find them all here

In other news I've nearly finished the awards for the AvA's current round.

Hey Hey - I'm back from the Convention and I bring teaser photos and a brief run down of events.

On to the shiny guests :

Seriously witty, charming and entertaining people. Tony Head giggling at Alan's antics and face pulling during the photo sessions ( I swear there's a different expression in every photo I've seen) Robin Sachs, charming and a very very naughty man. Sweet and funny Jewel and vivacious Stephanie.  Some more teaser photos:

I actually got home on Monday but I've had so much to do it has taken me this long  *stretches arms wide* to process all the photos and try to recall some of the Q&A details. [livejournal.com profile] acrazywench  and I were con buddies as usual. We had a blast - the guests were awesome and nothing much spoilt our fun except the GPS trying to send us round in circles Monday morning as we tried to escape Heathrow.

Firstly new art - here's Tahmoh.  You may remember that I kept on mentioning that I wanted to do Enver just in case? - well RL got in the way and by the time I saw Miracle Laurie's inadvertent twitter mentioning him on Thursday night, it was just too late to get something passable done. Next time perhaps.

This probably had to be the smallest convention I'd attended - around 300+ people but that just made it feel relaxed and stress free, queueing would not be the main activity this weekend.  Full size photos and notes are all on the pages linked below under the cut.

More teaser photos and links to report under this cut )

Quite pleased with the way this one has turned out.  As usual bigger image can be seen by clicking the thumbnail.

Onto to Tahmoh now.  If time permits I'd like to do Enver/Victor too - here's hoping there will be some surprise guests...
thedothatgirl: (November)
So I have been busy honest...    Click the thumbnail for the larger image.

I have Tahmoh and Frans still to do and the Convention (Echo-1) rapidly approaches.  I also note from the Starfury forum that Sean Harry said Olivia  /Adelle was the surprise guest for the Con and she had to pull out for work commitments *pouts*

Still hoping for any other members of the cast though. Enver ???  please?

Hello world

I'm kinda busy with art and stuff right now-  I have lots to do for the Dollhouse Convention in May which I will post as it is finished.

I'm trying to catch up with my TV shows and fighting the urge to start another vid project already (I have a list *this long* )  I've been reading the furore over the S8 Buffy comics - I'm very much in the 'wait and see camp'  as I'd like to get to the end of the arc before deciding whether I am happy or not with the character assassination development. I'd say I have my two favourite characters from the 'verse in front and centre apparently doing things that don't feel right. Oh well patience, wait and see.

Castle starts in the UK on Alibi channel tonight at 9pm - I'm pleased as I saw the first 5 episodes when it premiered stateside (which were fun) but getting the rest fell by the wayside. I've been very meh about Bones - I fell asleep in the last three episodes and it feels like it is going nowhere, at this rate not even the pretty will save it. Caprica I've enjoyed thus far I think I have about 3 eps left? [livejournal.com profile] bradcpu has convinced me to continue watching Legend of The Seeker and with the introduction of the new character in the S1 Finale the show became far more interesting ;)  The wizard still pees me off but I can say that if ever a crack vid idea came my way I doubt I could resist the urge.

And this just made me and J fall off our chairs the other morning. I mean,  I'm not laughing at the poor old bloke but 'sunglasses in a wheelchair?'  And they thought he was sleeping?    I'm sure this was in a hollywood script somewhere.
thedothatgirl: (sierra)

I've booked three Conventions this year (!!) and the first one is Echo- 1 (Dollhouse)  in May.  We have Dichen, Miracle Laurie, Fran Kranz and Tahmoh Penikett confirmed so I thought I'd better pull my finger out and start sketching. I'm crossing everything in the vain hope that we'll have a surprise guest in the shape of Enver/Olivia/Harry (or even Eliza?)    oh, anyone on the cast really.    It's likely I'll do a montage of 'dolls' and 'rossum employees' to cover all eventualities.

I made these a week or so ago - the wallpapers out of necessity as I got a super wide monitor for Christmas and needed something 1920 wide :D

I'm going to start work on the More Joy Day Icons requests and start posting them to the comments - there's two more slots left....
thedothatgirl: (Default)
It's More Joy Day !!!  So I made this vid - hopefully there'll be something in it that will give a little joy.

Title: If It Gives You Joy
Fandom: Whedonverse - Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel The Series, Firefly, Dollhouse (Spoilers Up To S2 Ep3) , Dr Horrible Singalong Blog
Song: Joy by David Poe
Length : 4:17
Description:  Simply a montage of moments of 'joy' from my favourite Whedonverse  tv shows, nothing more sophisticated than that.  I've chosen clips that are 'joyous', possibly very silly and some that may particularly resonate with me. There's also a sprinkling of outtakes in there too,  plus a little Nathan Fillion nekkidness.  Of course there was so much that didn't make it into the vid,  but I had to stop somewhere.
Download :  various AVI /WMV from my site here   or watch streamed at BAM.  Embedded under the cut on youtubehere )

Feedback is appreciated as always.  I shall be back later today with some vid Recs for More Joy Day!
thedothatgirl: (dollhouseasleep)
Oh well *sigh*

It's not a surprise but I'm still sad.  Will look forward to last episodes through Dec and January.  I think it leaves Joss a couple left to really wrap(or blow) things up.

It's new season TV very very soon (that came round fast)  and this will be what I'll be 'watching'

Dollhouse - Whilst I really got caught up in the last half of the first season, I've yet to feel the same intense way with this Whedon show as I do with the 3 that came before.  I'm hoping that things will only get better. I've avoided S2 plot spoilers but not some of the huge casting news that has been flying around.   The Season One DVD's came last weekend. J is away in Germany for a few days so I think I'll settle down and do a rewatch, check out the unaired pilot and just start mentally cataloging scenes for the two vid bunnies I have so far.

SPN - I felt strange about the finale. I may dig it out and watch it again before the S5 premiere. I guess I'll tune in out of curiosity and because Castiel is pretty. *is shallow*

Bones - I'm loyal, I like looking at David, but will wait until it airs over here as I think I lost patience with the willtheywontthey factor.

Glee - I've heard things about this, I've no idea what it is about so it will be cool to find out. It sounds happy so that's good. More happy is what we need.

Caprica - I'd like to see what Jane Espenson does with the project plus James is doing a guest turn.

Leverage - Fun Fun Fun show.

Catching up on DVD's and late to the party for :

The Wire
- How awesome is this show?  THIS MUCH  *stretches out arms*  J & I have just seen the S3 finale and love it to bits. Fascinating slow burning stories that just got us hooked in.  Wonderful characters - I think I love a little bit of most of them but have a soft spot for Freeman.

True Blood - We're up to episode 7 I think - We laughed our assess off at a couple of episodes. Nothing like knob gags to get us rolling in the aisles.   (is it supposed to be funny?)  The credits never get old,  too - awesome.

House - I lost track of S5 somewhere in the summer. I want to catch up but not really fussed enough to do rush off and find the missing ones.

Legend of The Seeker
- This looks cool and escapism, with swords and stuff - I'll be starting on season one soon I hope.

Pushing Daisies - I never got to see the last few episodes they held back following the cancellation announcement.

BSG - Watched the 3 hour mini series two days ago. I actually have a vid song so I want to do a whole recap from the beginning. Looking forward to it.

Is there something I should be checking out?  I feel I may have left off something vital.  I may catch up on Castle and Chuck too.

Season 2 - 13 eps with a option on the back 9 ........  Airing possibly in the Autumn.
