I know that many people hate this festival day, but I thank my lucky stars that some bloke at work gave me a card 23 years ago, life changing I tell you.

I made some shippy cards - I still feel very rusty in the photoshop department but it'll only improve if I practice!

So this tumblr thing can suck hours out of your day right?   I'm kind of picking random convention photos to post and some banners/cards  I have already made.   I also made a couple of simple pieces the last couple of days to tumble but I thought I would cross post here too.  From my experience so far, tumblr is big on images and small on words but I think that may be as I am not following many peeps/communities over there just yet.

The art work  I see on tumblr is very pretty  - definitely seems to follow a trend/ distinct style of intense colours,  or  sepia monochrome in a portrait format ,   and also plenty o'gifs.  Nice to see they increased the gif limit the ones I make presently are HUGE.

Anyhow I made the River Card for a challenge a long while back over at slayalive. May decide to do other characters just for the heck of it.  The other are new.

Vidder Notes: Another and probably the last vidlet this year for the holiday season. I have a longer, multifandom idea I want to work on but it will be a Winter piece and not in time for Christmas.   Firefly has been neglected in the Christmas festivities of vidlets and art - lack of source mainly but it does have some of the sweetest family scenes out of the entire whedonverse - plus Wash the awesome pilot. I picked the chessiest version of this song I could find, it's not laugh out loud funny but has a few touches of humour and I've been indulgent in the final scenes. I shouldn't miss this show as much as I do, they're like long lost family.

Way back when I was using WMM (haha yes, I remember) I made this vid. I have promised myself for the last couple of years that I would go back and 'redo' with higher quality source, fix those nagging technical faults (no thanks WMM) and change those clips choices that always got to me every time I rewatched it.  Now it's done and here it is, shinier and better. There's a faiir few scenes that I've changed but the essence of the orignal vid remain.  Something that I just had to do.

Feedback is always loved.

 When the pc went kaput I transferred some art files to the laptop and started on some wallpapers - I think not being able to 'create' anything made me want to do it more than ever. 

So I bring you 3 Firefly Wallpapers - This time we have Jayne, Kaylee and Wash - I'll do River, Book, Simon next. Then perhaps new Mal, Zoe and Inara ones last.  Older Zoe and Inara walls are here if you're curious.  I think these have turned out quite nicely.

  Vidder notes: I mused when looking through the source (with much sadness) how much more we could have seen of her had we even had a even full season, not just the kickass stuff but the tender moments and interaction with the rest of the crew. Also the song?  most of the time I pick songs that even after the project is done I can easily listen to them straight away. I think the headphones very likely make it worse but this one? I'd be pleased not to hear it for a month or so....   Anyhow that aside and I hope you enjoy. I didn't post lyrics this time, they're very repetative and quite clear.  Feedback is loved.

I'm back.

Wonderful holiday, lots of lazing in the sun by the pool (melt! ) a sprinkling of wandering around medieval tuscan towns and cities,  and some much needed one on one time with my dear friend.   She really had an annus horribilus in 2008 and I found myself wishing that I wasn't so remote, so I could be more supportive. I think she has turned the corner now and have promised to keep in touch via email more often.

I did have limited internet access so I would briefly check emails but didn't have time to respond to lj things other than to scan posts briefly. I did notice that there are a whole swathe of new VVC vids from my flist that I want to watch.  I am looking forward to those  - One that I did manage to see when I was away and I can recommend to any vidder/fan/browncoat/ Firefly fan isbradcpu and laurashapiro  collaboration 'Hard Sun'.   This works on many levels as a statement on fandom/vidding and the show. It's is beautiful, touching and should not be missed.

I also  read some very insightful/interesting  posts from my  flist  on the 'vidding fandom/community/ Vividcon' late last night - perhaps not the best idea as I was tired and there was a touch of 'huh?' as if I'd missed something -  but that aside  some interesting observations were made and it was good for getting those thinky thoughts going.(sorry, but that is about as descriptive as I can manage right now). And as for vidding  I will go back to the next vid project I was tweaking before holiday, it's Firefly to a brief song and hopefully I can rediscover the vidding momentum I had a month or so ago.
