33degrees and hotter tomorrow

Just a general post about life, fandom and vidding.
Life - The hot summer continues in the UK, we reached 33 degrees here in Lincoln - and it is set to rise tomorrow. We poor saps in the UK can't cope with extreme weather. We get an inch of snow and no one turns up at school or work. We get three consecutive days of 25degrees+ and we have a heatwave - we are without air con and tabloid papers wheel out the 'Phew wot a scorcher' headline. I am not really complaining because school is out on Friday and I won't have to do a 4 mile daily trek in this heat. And the heat makes me stay indoors where all I can manage is...
Vidding - I'm 1 minute into my Illyria vid to 'Siva' by the Smashing Pumpkins. No deep thought or symbolism, just smash and crash. Quite enjoying the editing except for WMM now refuses to preview this particular project so I render and watch each edit. To freshen up on Illyria I basked in the magnificence of the later part of S5 - I really still miss the show awfully, but saw on whedonesque today some exciting news about......
My Fandom - Alexis Denisof is appearing in an Arthur Miller play in Liverpool this Autumn. Must make the effort to go and see it, here's hoping Aly will be around to cheer on her guy. And it also looks as if Amber Benson has been added to Collectormanian 10 along with Adam Baldwin and Juliet Landau, so that will be a couple more 'verse actors I haven't met yet.
All in all not a bad day, if I say so myself.

Date: 2006-07-18 09:15 pm (UTC)I just heard on the news that the heat has caused the railway tracks to buckle. The summer seem to get hotter every year, and every year it takes us unawares with hosepipe bans etc. Let's face it the fact that it is hot in the summer is really news to nobody but it sure gets enough airtime.
While remastering "Suicide Note" I rediscovered my love for Illyria and am struck again by what a surprisingly good actress Amy Acker is.
You will have to let us know about the play. I have to admit that I love Wes to bits but that Alexis Denisof's weird midatlantic accent freaks me out. He should be made to use his phoney English one all the time! lol

Date: 2006-07-19 08:48 am (UTC)AD's accent is very strange indeed - the first time I saw him during a Q&A it was nasal and like you say, peculiar midatlantic. Then when he was on stage with ASH the accent almost disappeared and he was very 'Wesley' . He even apologises for drifting in and out of the english accent. But like you I'd be happy with the english one all the time.
I doubt I will be able to take pics but I will report back if I manage to get to the play. I think as AD doesn't get here very often the tickets will probably go quickly.

Date: 2006-07-19 10:48 am (UTC)Anyway I have my 83yr old mother staying here and she can't sit still. The sound of the broom swishing on my dying lawn trying to sweep cherries up(?) has me wracked with guilt. So I am going to have to go out and weed for a short while. And there I was thinking I may get away with vidding some more.
