Description: BtVS S6 Overview - Oh My God I can't believe it, I've never been this far away from home. Everyone has lost their way.

Notes : I was only really familiar with the Kaiser Chief version of this song until recently, and feel that the harsh piano cords  at the introduction and mood throughout this recording suits Season Six perfectly, Lily Allen would be too chipper.   Anyhow this focuses on  how, after Buffy's return, things just go from bad to worse.  I had made half of this vid already when I stopped to make the SPN vidlet 'Happy Together' - something I have never done before,  so I was concerned about picking up the timeline again. However the change of mood helped no end  as  by the time I got to the last stages of this vid I felt very emotionally disturbed by the events from Episode 6.18 onward  I don't hate season Six but damn, those were dark, dark times.  Well I hope you enjoy the vid but you know, not 'enjoy' it. Comments welcome.   Now off to cuddle some kittens.

I don't think there is any season I hate in Buffy - you just have to accept each is different and love it for where it takes us, what it is trying to say.

Very much so! I feel that way about most of the characters as well.

I'm going to take a glance at your other Buffy vids. BTW, mind if I friend you?

Yes characters too, and relationships. I'm pretty ok with most of it. Although stinky Parker deserved that club to the head in Beer Bad - but I understand the need for him to be in the show.

Friending is lovely thanks, I'll do likewise. Enjoy the rest of the vids, the very early ones can a bit rough round the edges though.

I just watched "Sing" and I didn't think someone could do a musical vid of an episode that is already a musical, but you proved me wrong! I didn't see any rough edges myself.

One of the things that I especially like in your vids is the way you layer images over one another (the lighter "shadow" adding commentary to the main image) or morph images into each other (as in the S6 vid - Dark Willow into the demon in Africa, the demon and Spike from Dark Willow and Giles - very very nice "catch" in terms of the similarities, I'm sure I hadn't noticed that watching the show.)

Confession - I get really cranky about Riley in S5 (and S6). I try to be really understanding, blame the writers, blah blah but, yeah, I have my holdouts. :)

I was in two minds about making a vid to OMWF, like you say a musical ep, but as usual the song kept nudging me. I've seen some great vids to that episode and the emphasis has been on the movement and dance rather than song. There shouldn't be rough edges on 'Sing' as it is fairly recent - I meant the vids I made back in 2004 and 2005 - some of those a little wonky.

Glad that you find the layers work. They can be tricky if misplaced but I do try to make sure both clips are visible otherwise there is no point. It's a great way to show parallels and themes.

Confessions about Riley not a problem.

And of course part of the art is the fact that you notice them at all - and then can make them apparent so skillfully.

I wish I had the talent/ability/software to do videos like this - every so often there's a song, such as some of the tracks from Annie Lennox's "Songs of Mass Destruction" CD that are so late-season BtVS that the video practically constructs itself in my head. So I'm in awe of people who do it and do it well. (At one point back in college I considered becoming a film editor - before everything switched to digital, which doesn't have the same kinesthetic quality - so when editing is well done I really appreciate it.)

the oldest vid I've found here is either 2008 or '10 - is "All Fan Vids" the link for all of your vids, or at viddersnet?

Ha. I actually wrote a little bit about him in my first two meta (and I think I was trying to be polite); I was pretty much blathering without a plan, so if I could rewrite them I'd hopefully be much more focused. Talk about "rough around the edges"? Oy vey.

Sorry the tags are a little confusing.

'All Fan Vids' takes you to my personal vidding site where everything is hosted. It's sorted by fandom so you can avoid film and tv vids that don't interested you. There's streaming and download links for each one.

The earliest vid on LJ is this one from '05 - it's an Angel the Series vid.

Thanks for those meta links - I'll take a look tomorrow.
