'Remastered' Vid -'Signal To Noise' - Serenity

Way back when I was using WMM (haha yes, I remember) I made this vid. I have promised myself for the last couple of years that I would go back and 'redo' with higher quality source, fix those nagging technical faults (no thanks WMM) and change those clips choices that always got to me every time I rewatched it.  Now it's done and here it is, shinier and better. There's a faiir few scenes that I've changed but the essence of the orignal vid remain.  Something that I just had to do.

I meant to ask you in my original comment on this vid but I forgot and then debated whether or not I should come back and ask--what program do you use and is it available as freeware? I've made one vid so far using WMM. I want to make more, but I'm hesitant to do so using that program.

I don't mind you asking at all! I currently use ULEAD 11 but it's not freeware unfortunately. A very popular choice amongst vidders is Sony Vegas in it's various forms. You can get free trial for it and probably for the current version of ULEAD too.

I used WMM for 4 years and found lots of bolt on effects and transitions that made it do things that it really shouldn't ( it quite often let me know). The original of this vid was made in WMM but ultimately the lack of extra video tracks made me push onto a different editor. The vidding community here is great for links and advice for what to use.

Oh man. I've wanted to make a Firefly/Serenity vid to this specific song (Peter's one of my all-time favorite musicans) for ages. I'm glad you did it though, 'cause no way I could've made anything nearly this good. Bravo.

I love Peter Gabriels songs for vidding. I've used two more in other whedonverse vids and hope to do so again.

I came across this track back in 06, hoping to get an idea for Serenity, but so worried someone else would make it before I could get it 'out there'. It was a relief when I first posted the vid then, but I was never 100% happy with some issues in it.

However because I still love the song & idea so much I felt it was worth the remaster. I'm delighted you think I did the idea justice - that makes it all worthwhile. Thank you.

It's very true about Firefly and finding the right music for vids. It's not easy, but when I heard this one I felt it fit with the darker tone of Serenity and the theme of the film so well I could not help but do it.
