I'm currently drawing portraits for the cast to sign at Lux2 In April this year. The world sadly needs some proper Lucifer Merchandise, I've been spoilt by the enormous range we had for the whedonverse shows. For Lucifer I haven't found anything other than a pretty poor DVD sleeve and that is it.     I try to take a break from that and do something else, again Lucifer related because why not.

A few years back I did some of these for the Buffy cast and if I can find the right painting I thought I would give it a go again. Admittedly I am using a prehistoric version of PS so don't look too closely.. My girl installed her CS something on my pc and I opened it, and then closed it again abruptly.  It's just for a bit of fun and if I can I'll make a deckerstar one,  I will. I feel Lauren's face is quite 'modern' so it may not look so convincing.

Anyway I'd like to present to you - Lucifer Morningstar Esq.  Based on a portrait by Francois Xavier Fabre. It's Georgian/Regency period and if you prefer it can be Mr D'Arcy.

The images here really do not do them justice. I could cheerfully sit in front of these each for a good half hour and just wonder at the beauty. There were a few more which I'll find and post again.

So I got to the new PRB exhibition at the Tate this weekend.

An exhibition of a 150 works of art (a good deal less than the PRB exhibition also at the Tate held in 1984, which was a monumental 250 pieces). I thoroughly enjoyed it, wasn’t quite so mighty, although missed some of my favourites that I saw last time. There were some notable omissions which were actually owned by the Tate so I wonder what prompted that decision.

I have to say that John Everett Millais and William Holman Hunt are my top choices, with Ford Madox Brown a close third.   Back in the 80’s I used to prefer Rossetti’s work, but now I find it’s mostly too stylised for my taste.   I can't say that I really relate to some of themes depicted (after all it is of another era and applying modern sensibilities to it seems a little strange) but the artist in me just marvels at the intense colour, techniques and photographic realism some of the PRB have created in their paintings. I went with my niece who is a graduate from Goldsmiths and we had a blast discussing the various aspects, and generally being in the way when we got up close and personal to see all the minute detail.

I’ll be posting some personal choices/ highlights from the event, the exhibition closes January 13th so if you’re interested (highly recommended) get yourself down to Tate Britain.

So a while back I had a tinker with some photoshop manips.  Nothing ' dangly'  or NSFW because I'm not that proficient ;) -  this was initially due to a contest prompt at [livejournal.com profile] still_grrr  and then I was reminded  recently when lovely [livejournal.com profile] rua1412  updated her layout with some fine art.    So I went and dug out some paintings by Artists of which I am particularly fond and here we are!   The whedonverse meets the art world.

A little taster  'Echo' (or Faith if you prefer) as Isabella and the Pot of Basil (Holman-Hunt)  I was very fortunate to attend the massive Pre-Raphaelite Exhibition (twice) at the Tate back in '84 and saw this amongst others and can say that it certainly left an impression Click the thumb to see full size.
