Phew lots of photos to sort through.  And muddled brain to rack - acrazywench took shorthand notes of the Q&A 's but I tried to remember things from the Meet and Greet & autograph sessions.

Awesome group shot from Starfury - love the 'whodunnit ' montage. Especially Summer and Felicia's poses.  To see all the photos click on the Guests names to go to the page in the text under the cut.

So yes, I know I've had the T1 con booked ages and should have started earlier but you know how it is. It's a Terminator, Dr Horrible, Dollhouse, Chuck convention but most guests are whedonverse related.

See the awesome guest list of Summer Glau, Adam Baldwin, Zachary Levi,  Amy Acker  oops just got cast in a Movie, Stephanie Jacobsen (shooting a pilot and may not come)  Clare Kramer   oops another bites the dust, Jonathan (pass the single malt) Woodward, Georges Jeanty (a real artist S8 BtVS comics)  and Dominic Keating.

Sad to hear Amy (our Dollhouse rep ) couldn't make it - she sent Sean, the organiser, a  note " I was really looking forward to seeing you and some Angel fans. I have been thinking about the show so much- even rewatching some eps, since Andy passed- I was excited to be around people who I know would be celebrating his life! Please pass on my regrets to everyone"   She, Andy and J always seemed so close when they were on stage together - they used to call each other Fred, Gunn and Lorne.  I'm sure she'll make it over some time soon.   Sean, has already organised a replacement with  Miracle Laurie - Mellie from Dollhouse YAY!      and has promised possible another surprise.

Dr Horrible artwork is done \o/      Took longer than I'd like but I was working from the caps and some of the quality was a bit fuzzy, plus tough to get a good facial expression when mostly the cast are singing their little hearts out.

Started a last minute Summer sketch yesterday which I should finish today  but I now want to do some Dollhouse Group piece - hedging my bets for any surprise cast members.    Not. enough.  time.   *panics*

I was going to start vidding tomorrow honest! - I've projects to do, but I've just seen the updated guest list at Collectormania signing at the end of September.

I knew about Adam Baldwin (I'm seeing him again at T1 Convention next April) but look who they've just announced:

Amber Benson (woo! I've met Amber briefly once so I really want to see her again)
Morena Baccarin
Jamie Bamber (now known as ' small but perfectly formed' after Serenity Complete)
Mercedes McNab (wootwoot! the only member of Angel 'regular' cast I haven't met so I've just got to see her - completist much?)

Hoping  [info]acrazywench   can be convinced to join me (Jamie Bamber ! - you know you want to...)

So I'm back from the holiday across the pond.  TStorm Fay did just about everything she could to make us feel well at home with the torrential rain and high winds. Bit like being on a Cornish beach in August. We were lucky though much of Florida was flooded.  But on a serious note I see that Gustav is threatening New Orleans area and my thoughts are with all my flist that may be affected, I was freaked with all the news and tracking predictions for Fay so I cannot imagine how you must be all feeling with a Hurricane on it's way.

Big Damn Heroes. - I miss my shows.  Dr Horrible made me want to sing (eek!) Perhaps Dollhouse will make me want to sketch/paint more. Here's hoping.

Well if you want to see some more pics of the awesome Adam Baldwin, the small but perfectly formed Jamie Bamber and all the other shiny guests  then you need go no further than to click here

I'm hoping that[info]acrazywench  may have a little time to transcribe the teeline notes she took in the Q&A's at some juncture, to go with the pics (you're a star!)

I know the wonderful[info]mara_sho  also made notes but who knows if she'll be corresponding with me other than telling me to frak off after posting this or this.  In mitigation copious quantities of vodka were consumed and to be fair I will also post this so she is not alone in her jedi-ness.

The eventual guest list was

From Firefly/Serenity
Adam Baldwin (jayne)
Ron Glass  (Book)
Richard Brooks (Jubal Early)
Mark Sheppard ( Badger Also BSG Romo Lampkin)
By Association
W Morgan Sheppard (Mark's talented Father )

From BSG
Kandyse McClure (Dee)
Nicky Cline (Callie)
Leah Cairns (Racetrack)
Michelle Forbes (Admiral Cain)
Jamie Bamber (Apollo)

Short notice cancellation from Alan Tudyk - but it sounds as if it was for work so, great for Alan.  This is the final Serenity/Firefly Convention for Starfury (in the UK - but no mention made of future LA events)

The incredibly awesome [livejournal.com profile] acrazywench foolishly admitted that she did shorthand so there hopefully will be some transcripts at a later stage of the Q&A's and the ever lovely [livejournal.com profile] mara_sho (jedi apprentice) took notes too so here's hoping.
So I've just flicked quickly through all the photos and have picked some for each Guest - First our BDH Adam Baldwin.

Not  many silent moments in the Q&A's this time, so opportunities to get good shots without  the microphone in the way were few, but I think these aren't too bad. .

More pictures this way... )

So I am back from the Weekend at Serenity Infinity.  Despite being extremely disappointed that Adam Baldwin cancelled again and Sean Maher also pulled out (all due to work commitments so I am perversely pleased for them too) I think [livejournal.com profile] acrazywench and I were determined to enjoy ourselves,  still missing our third amiga [info]mara_sho who was poorly.

I don't think Sean Harry managed to get replacements - Richard Brooks was announced as such,  but I feel certain he was already stashed away as a surprise guest, along with Nectar Rose & convention stalwart Jonathan Woodward.  So a pretty thin line up compared to the normal standards  - true, true we've been spoilt by the past Serenity cons here but most of the BDH's have all got regular gigs right now so.....

Enough twittering.   Some snippets of trivia from the weekend.   Morena has a new short haircut. Very chic and suits her beautifully. She told me at the cocktail meet & greet that it was because of work and not her choice but she might keep it for a while. Her boyfriend Austin was with her. She also was aware of  the latest Serenity 2 rumour sparked from the Alan Tudyk interview but didn't have anything extra to add. Ellen Muth is tiny and loves the more bizarre questions in her Q&A.  Nectar Rose has good taste in music - she did a set at the disco, and probably played the best stuff all night, without line dances.  Richard Brooks is an awesome singer and told us that Jubal Early was planned as  a recurring character, and that his part in Drive was going to become a regular too by the end of the Season, had the show made it past the fourth episode.  Jonathan Woodward's father owns a pair of leather chaps and has lent them to Jonathan.

The final Starfury Serenity con was announced too - Yes,  we have tickets.  Morena will be there along with Mark Sheppard and his father.  Mark is also bringing his good friend Jamie Bamber  - sorry but I let out a squee when I heard that, making  [livejournal.com profile] acrazywench jump. So, so sad and at my age, I should know better. I'm hoping for some more BDH's and  BSG guests.    Another coup for Sean Harry is that Kristen Bell has confirmed for his Prison Break/VM gig next year too - as much as I admire Kristen I can't see me going to that.

[livejournal.com profile] fresleyforever celebrated her Birthday and even Nectar Rose remembered giving her a shout out at the closing ceremony.  There is a theory that[info]fresleyforever  may be spending the whole of  2008 attending conventions - there are so many.

Here is the exquisite Ms Baccarin

And more teaser pics here..... )

Hello flist. Just a quick wave to the gallery before I disappear back into the bowels of award making,  review writing and general site/computer  stuffness.

What's the frack is up with my email?  [personal profile] bradcpu  your mail arrived this morning?  Then, it was only after I answered that I noticed the date.  I guess I was too late so I would like to say GAH!!  and sorry, I would have loved to have helped in anyway.

Round Six of the AvA's has been the tightest we've had yet - especially in the categories - so there will be extra awards with ties and the like. A good spread of fandoms too which meant that there Six different Fandom group awards. Huh?  where did they all come from.  Not complaining but it makes us judges work, but all's good we're down to picking the last two main awards and [personal profile] mara_sho  is still talking to me.  A major achievement in itself if you've ever had the misfortune to receive one of my emails that goes on and on and on (and just doesn't know when to shut up)   The Special Theme Round 'At The Movies' is still open until midnight GMT  30th June - click, read, run and go enter!!

Best of The Best Round next - it will be all the category & fandom winners plus some wildcards thrown in -  it will be us judging for the most part and then   a couple of polls for fun.  There will be prizes too I was thinking of throwing in a piece of original art and perhaps there'll be other stuff , belly button lint, sticky toffee.

Geek treat of the week was the pictures linked over at Whedonesque showing the Firefly & Serenity DVD's floating around the ISS - Extremely cool if I say so myself.

Finally -  the random subject ? First contact with computers was  as 'surly office girl' in an Electronics company. Working for this clever but creepy guy who taught me a fair bit about computers (this is the VDU - this is the keyboard)  and I just remembered  the password for booting up the 'tardis' (the mainframe) was 'slartibartfast'.   I think it was the fjords that nailed it.

I've been so busy decorating and stumbling over firewalls/routers/speedswitches and thin clients that I have only just taken a peek of the pics from Serenity Four.  Small number of guests, but all so charming and entertaining to say the least.  Not so many to go through so I hope to have them uploaded to my site by the weekend along with some anecdotes from the weekend.

[personal profile] mara_sho  and [profile] acrazywench  were excellent companions - and like we said - we seriously need to do this more often.

Sean Harry announced the first batch of guests for Serenity Infinity this October and Adam Baldwin has signed to attend along with Sean Maher and Morena Baccarin (I think)  Ellen Muth from Dead Like Me will also be there which should be dandy.  The three conventioneers have  booked so it will be something else to look forward to.
thedothatgirl: (companion)
Phew! I'm back from a very entertaining weekend at Serenity Cubed - Lovely surprise guests Michael Fairman, Nectar Rose and Christina Hendricks. I think everyone missed Nathan a little (or alot) but here's hoping he'll be back next year at Quadruply thingie or Decalogy (sp?)

Beautiful people hidden under here )

Event reports and all photos will probably take a couple of days or so. A big woot to [livejournal.com profile] acrazywench, [livejournal.com profile] mara_sho and [livejournal.com profile] fresleyforever Let's do it all again soon....
thedothatgirl: (zoe)
This will probably be my last post on lj for a while - I have just finished Zoe, skin tones are a little lighter than I would like. I need to invest in some more shades. Also can I just say "good grief masses of curly hair".

Zoe )

No new Mal sketch - I just ran out of time. I'll be back soon with photos and some convention news.

See y'all
thedothatgirl: (puppet)
Busy busy busy. Two more down and possibly three or four to go. Next is Badger, then the optimist in me will probably do Zoe, Book and then maybe another Mal., just in case there are any extra guests (Ok so Gina Torres is a very long shot but she is missing from the BDH line up). I can't think Summer will be there although I'd like to do another perhaps from Serenity.

The bad news is my eyesight is definitely getting worse. I think come October I will need to invest in a pair just for close work because I am really struggling with the fine detail *sigh* - on the upside though you can't see the wrinkles developing so clearly.

I so need some 'art' icons.

ETA I have reworked Simons skintones and 12oclock stubble - he looked like Desperate Dan about to launch into a cowpie. Slightly better I think.

So I did manage to get one picture finished for the Serenity 3 Convention - Just put the final detail to the earring and here she is - Inara Serra (Morena Baccarin) in all her beauty.

thedothatgirl: (miranda)
It's done. The song was edited from over 7.30 to 5.40 mins and may not be to everyone's taste. It is a little strange but not Bjork strange if you get my meaning. The vid focuses on Mal and River, their struggles throughout Serenity and it contains major spoilers. A smallish file is up at the moment. I am in the process of uploading a HQ version and will add the link.

Of course feedback is wondrous to receive.
thedothatgirl: (Default)
Well, I was going to just post a fly by update about how well 'Signal to Noise' was going after about 2 long days of vidding. I'm at 2.34mins of a 5.30mins song, I quite like what I see so far (is it me or are the colours in 'Serenity' intense?? which I love) and even hubs so jaded and weary of watching my efforts liked what he saw too.

The last render/save crashed at 43% - the file is corrupt *insert suitably pathetic wimpering here*

After much titting around, and no real editing for the last two hours the culprits appear to be two clips from part of a chapter which means I'll probably need to rerip the source tomorrow before I can continue. I hope to God it fixes the problem.

Things you do for family. The in-laws were here for Easter bless 'em. I am very lucky, they are great people although Pappy does drink the house dry. So we all over compensate by filling our glasses very full, for fear that the next time we reach for the bottle it will be empty.

Anyway I'm rambling, Pappy wanted to visit Northcote 'heavy horse' sanctuary, you know Shires and Percherons etc. We went on Monday and I was pleasantly surprised. I am not a 'horsey' person, I find them illogically intimidating for such gentle creatures. My girl was keen, so step up Mum and do your duty. The horses were gorgeous. Big and smelly but wonderful. We met the tallest horse in the UK (missed out on the world record by about half a finger or something) - He is called 'Cracker' which is appropriate. If you want to see horsey pic spam click here )

And if you are not into those kind of pictures I finished Book today so click here )
thedothatgirl: (Default)
See lyrics in the entry line... Best I could come up with really.  The Easter break has started here, so I have company which is great.  Why is it that kids get up early when they don't have an elsewhere to be??

Planning to go shopping together tomorrow and do fast food.  Did Ice Age II last night,  cinema full of kids and I get the 10yr old boy who is a 'heckler in training'  in front of us. Yep,  we all told him to ' zip it' several times.

The 'Wash' portrait went quite well - Alan Tudyk has such expressive eyes. But you will note, dinosaurs not a strong point with me. I copied the colours from screencaps rather than go with some of the illustrated impressions I came across.  . I think I may do a couple of sketches next before progressing onto Book.    Take a look at the results )

Title: Ain't No Easy Way Out
Artist: Black Rebel  Motorcycle Club
Duration: 2.30secs
Pairing: Mal/Inara
Episodes: Shindig, Heart of Gold, Our Mrs Reynolds, Trash  plus snippets from elsewhere  (No Serenity)
Size: 23.6mB
Format: WMV Zipped
Notes:  Mal & Inara Shipper/ Action Vid.  Mal & Inara  have a strange relationship. No matter how they may deny it, it was easy for them to fall in love but there 'Ain't no easy way out'.   The same applies to the dangerous situations in which they find themselves.  No easy way out for them or anyone who may get in the way.  As always any feedback is much appreciated.
